Your Combination FSA Experience is Getting Even Better

January 3, 2018

A new year has arrived, but our mission of simplifying employee benefits administration remains the same. We’re always looking for ways to improve our offerings and processes through innovation. That’s why we recently unveiled improvements to our Combination Medical Flexible Spending Accounts for our clients and participants. In this blog post, we’ll tell you how we’re making our Combination Medical FSAs even better!

What We’re Improving

Accessing benefits is so much easier for participants when they use our debit card, and that’s no different for participants enrolled in a Combination Medical FSA. With recent improvements to system functionality, Combination Medical FSA participants will be able to continue using their debit cards for eligible medical expenses even after they’ve hit their deductible. This change makes it easier for these participants to get reimbursed.

How It Will Work

Here’s what you need to know about this improved experience as it relates to you:

  1. When you manually enroll a participant through LEAP™ by Discovery Benefits, be sure to select the Combination Medical FSA plan. This step is important, because choosing the wrong plan may cause claims to be paid out incorrectly.
  2. We’ll help monitor plan enrollments for accuracy. If we notice someone is enrolled in a Post Deductible FSA without an enrollment in a Combination Medical FSA, we will notify you.
  3. Once the participant has submitted their Deductible Verification Form to Discovery Benefits, their Combination Medical FSA will automatically be updated and allow them to now use their plan like a General Purpose Medical FSA to allow even more eligible expenses to be covered.
  4. By reviewing your Account Balance Detail Report through your benefits administration tab in LEAP™, you’ll be able to see which participants have met their deductibles and converted to a Post Deductible FSA.

Where to Go with FSA Questions

Our new process makes it easier for your Combination Medical FSA participants to get the most use of their pre-tax funds, while also making administration easier for you! If you have any questions along the way, don’t hesitate to submit a case through Discovery Answers™ by logging into LEAP™ and clicking the “Get Help” button at the top right of the page. We’re happy to help!
